Temporary Flying Restriction on Long Mynd !

Due to the upcoming RAF Birthday Celebrations there are to be a number of Fly-pasts at Fairford.  The air space over the Long Mynd has been chosen as one of the aircraft marshalling areas.  Subsequently, there is an official CAA ‘No Flying’ period for ALL aircraft on the days as follows:-

  • Friday      13th July  – No Flying between 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm
  • Saturday 14th July – No Flying between 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm
  • Sunday    15th July – No Flying between 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm (Wolves MAC Scale gliding event - Long Lunch)

Note, we have extended the official periods to ensure that there is no conflict between our models and the aircraft marshalling for the display

This is a CAA directive and  is to accommodate aircraft marshalling in the area for RAF Birthday Fly-Past celebrations in Fairford.

Apart from the obvious safety implications, failure to comply with these flying restrictions is a serious offence and may result in heavy fines and or imprisonment.

Please contact a committeemember if you would like more information.  The Aeronautical Information Circular M 051/2018 which affects the Long Mynd can be downloaded here.
